A Year in Candlelight: Custom Wicks Looks Back on 2025–26
Our new website went live on 1 October 2026, and while we were moving everything across we found ourselves scrolling back through a year of our Instagram and Facebook posts. A lot happens in twelve months of candle making: restocks, a skeleton called Patricia, a very green festive visitor and one long, chilly January. So pop the kettle on, light something nice and come for a wander back through the year with us.
Autumn 2025: restocks and Friday feelings
Autumn started, as it so often does here, with wax, wicks and a lot of Lime, Basil & Mandarin. At the end of September we gave a fresh batch “just a wee trim and blow dry” to get them ready for their new homes, and on 9 October we were at it again: “Restocks never smelled so good 😋”.
Every Custom Wicks candle is hand poured in the Scottish Highlands, and each personalised candle holds 220g of wax, so restock days are busy, fragrant and, judging by our feed, a lot of fun. We went “Glowing into Monday” on 13 October, cheered the end of the week on 17 October with a very relatable “Woohoo!! We’ve made it!!”, and summed up our whole philosophy on 24 October: “Candles. Candles make us happy.”
Halloween: ghost friends and Patricia
Then things got a little spooky. On 28 October we shared a “ghost friends photoshoot” starring one of our match jars, and on 31 October Patricia the skeleton joined us to say “Happy Halloween from Patricia the skeleton and the Custom Wicks team”. Of everyone we work with, she’s the least bothered by the smell of hot wax.
Winter: the festive countdown and the longest January
On 22 November the countdown officially began, with a very green festive visitor and a three-word reel: “It’s tiiiiime!” Christmas is when a personalised candle really comes into its own: a name, a date and a few words for someone you love, gift boxed with matches and a handwritten note.
On Christmas Eve, from all of us at Custom Wicks: “Merry Christmas candle lovers… Hope your festivities are lit 🔥🕯️”. Then came January. On 23 January we shared a candle that summed the month up perfectly. Its label read “To the longest January month ever”, and underneath: “It’s chilly, I wanna quit the gym. Is it spring yet?” We felt that one. If you’re already thinking about this year’s list, our Christmas gifts are ready when you are.
Spring 2026: a photo shoot and plenty of love stories
At the end of February, photographer Fabiana Delcanton spent two days capturing our candles the way we picture them in your homes: on sofas, coffee tables and bookshelves, with a match just struck. Most of the photos in this post come from those two days.
Spring also had love on its mind. On 18 March we posted on Facebook, “Stop! Your bestie just got engaged? Summer 2026: all about the scents
We’ll be honest: our feeds were quiet over the summer. So let’s use this bit to talk about the candles themselves.
